Cusco, also known as Cuzco, was founded in 1100 and it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Peru. In the city, you can visit several museums and churches. Regarding the question “what to see in Cusco”, with certainty, you cannot miss Cathedral of Santo Domingo, Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús or Saksaywaman citadel.

Firstly, Cusco was inhabited by Killke people (until 1200). Then, the city was taken over by Incas who made it the capital of their empire. Finally, Cusco was retaken by Spaniards. As 3 completely different cultures were living in the city throughout its history, Cusco’s architecture is very diverse. Regarding the climate, the average temperature from December to March is 11 degrees (it is also the season of the biggest rainfalls). The average temperature from June to August is 8 degrees.
