The full name of the city is Santa Ana de Los Cuatro Rios de Cuenca, and it is a very cultural destination with the long history. You can see there, for instance, old and new cathedrals, the museum of the central bank, the church of Santo Domingo or monastery and museum of La Concepcion.

If you would like to go shopping, then visit Plaza Sangurima or Plaza Santa Ana. Near Cuenca, you can go to visit El Cajas – a famous national park with lovely landscapes (when travelling with Tauri Travel, this park is a must-see location included in the itinerary). Also, you can just rest in the park located within the city. As Cuenca is the third town in Ecuador regarding the size, it possesses the airport as well as many bus connections within the city.

If you decide to visit the city during European winter, you can take part in the religious festival called Holy Innocents (it takes place on 6th January). Another tradition involves celebrating “Thursday of Godfather and Godmother”. You can read more about entertaining or religious events here.
